Testing the limits of Prezi to see if I can keep my individual lessons from a unit in a larger Prezi. So far so good. Having even more options for design features would be helpful but I'm managing with the set font.

A little different (high school physics), but here's how I do it...

What would be the best way to have individual lessons in Prezi U? Would you guys like a sort of subscribe feature to classes, or class profiles that would show all of the prezi's in a unit of study?

I usually try to fit my entire unit into one Prezi. This almost always works unless I get a little too crazy with animations, videos and images.
This is one of the first Prezis I made using a template but still you get the idea: http://prezi.com/eqecchjyqdnl/body-and-behavior-the-nervous-sytem-brain-and-e...

It might be neat if there were a "reveal" feature in Prezi where you could lock or hide certain parts of a Prezi so that if you had the entire contents of of unit in one Prezi, you could release the entire thing to students but not allow them to view the next section until you as the instructor opened it up.

Hi Alex,

It would be great if you could include buttons that allow you to jump to given parts of the Prezi. I've tried making the .swf buttons myself but I can't do anything more than simple animations at this point. Allowing buttons that would say, send me to Chapter 14, Lesson 2, would be helpful for supply teachers and students looking to find materials. Also, when I access it from my iPad, I just can't click on the path I want to start with, it automatically starts at the first path and I need to manually click forward to get it to where I want to go.

A separate site that can organize our Prezis would also help solve the lessons problem. I'm finding my account is getting cluttered which is why I originally wanted to start one massive Prezi (that and the novelty of it).

Thanks a lot for taking an interest!

hey Alex,

Instead of having to search preziu library by institution, it would be more accessible if you set up course profiles by educational jurisdiction and subject area. This would make searching for relevant prezis easier.

A wiki style approach might work - allow preziu members to create a folder or profile for their jurisdiction (Colorado, New South Wales, Scotland...) (once a jurisdictional profile is created then no one else could create the same jurisdictional profile) and then allow members to create subject area profiles and then course profiles under the jurisdiction and subject area profiles (again, once a course profile has been created then no one else could create that profile).

I teach a number of high school courses in Ontario so I would create a jurisdictional folder for Ontario and then create a Canadian and World Studies subject area profile and then a course profile for each of my grade 10 history, gr 11 history, gr 11 law, gr 12 law etc. and add prezis under those headings. Someone else from Ontario could then add their prezis to the course profiles I created and also create other course profiles. Another teacher from Ontario could then enter the Ontario profile and create a new subject area profile for science or math and add their courses and prezis.

You would have to include specific course codes as well as a general description of the course profiles. The jurisdictional profiles could be divided into appropriate categories - elementary, intermediate, secondary, post secondary. The profiles should be searchable by course code and generic tagging. They should be displayed using simple thumnail image, course code and tags.

Although all the preziu profiles would be accessible and searchable by all members this type of organizational structure would facilitate a quick and simple search of potentially thousands of prezis.

Thanks
Jason Cogley
