When I get started on a new Prezi, I like to try to think of a metaphor for my topic, for example, How Does Your Google Grow? with a garden theme, or It's a Web 2.0 World with a huge earth in the background.

In the interest of being a good citizen, Alicia and I have shared this empty Prezi theme, which is merely waiting for your topic. Aarggh matey! It's a pirate themed Prezi with a pirate's treasure map in the background including lots of movable parts for you to use. It was originally made for a Google presentation, but feel free to remove the Google stuff and use it for any purpose.

What metaphors have you used or enjoyed? How do you start out thinking through a new Prezi topic?

Looking forward to reading your responses!

Thanks,

Hi Amy, Love the template. It would work great if you were using Prezi meeting and had hidden pieces of treasure in different areas.

I also try to find a metaphor to use in my Prezi designs and I use brain storming (Mind Mapping) as a way to get them. Simply spreading out all my ideas onto a page and seeing the metaphor form in font of my eyes is a great feeling.

Well put, Russell!  Thanks for your insight.

I like to make a play on Literary quotes (I know, I teach Math and Science)
I have transliterated "Lions, and Tigers and Bears! Oh MY!" into "Arcs, secants and chords! Woopee!" I'll also rhyme my words as in Mangled Angles. I'm still looking for a chance to use "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times" and "Call me Ishmael"
Then there is the take on song titles... "Will it go round in circles" is not yet finished.

Signature? I don't need no stinkin' signature!

this web 2.0 presentation was hard for me to follow : up and down, up and down seeing pages and pages...

it's really difficult to show websites on prezi...

I think it should be better to take the objects, or part of the pages, and replace it in frames in order to get free from that rectangle. I think it could be great but so much work !

this idea was lovely but comes too late in the presentation I think.

this is just a feeling about this one, I shall say that I appreciate your work.

thank you very much for sharing :)

Thanks for the Pirate Theme template. I used portions of it to do a quick review of word pattern words with the -edge that were continuing to stump some of my remedial readers. I used the path from ship to treasure chest and then 'traveled' on roads with missing a missing bridge , along the edge of a mountain range, etc. They will love it!

About Presentations:

This last presentation on powerpoint was kind of difficult for me, but what was the hardest for me was the Wiki pages. Finding topic was hard, and everything thereafter was a problem, but I finally submitted an got a decent grade. All this is new to me so I have to read the directions over and over until I am comfortable with them. I like this site and especially slideshare.I am getting some good ideas here!
Thanks,
Palma
