When you tell your colleagues or students to sign up for accounts, make sure to direct them to the sign up for education.  Edu Enjoy accounts let educators and students keep Prezis private and give them extended space.

Here is a little tutorial that shows you how to get an educator/student account in less than 60 seconds:

I teach in a small private school, and we don't issue school email addresses to the students. I'd like to set up prezi edu accounts for my younger students (3rd-6th) and/or let my older students (7th & 8th) set up accounts with their own emails. Is there a way for me to do this?

April: Here's a technique that seems to work.

1. Create a gmail account, for example, mrsharrisclass@gmail.com

2. Sign up for a Prezi free public account with this gmail address.

3. Log out of Prezi, sign up for another free public Prezi account, but this time use this gmail address: mrsharrisclass+1@gmail.com, the next time use mrsharrisclass+2@gmail.com, etc.

4. Repeat this process until you have enough accounts for each of your students.

Any email that is sent to any of the "+1" accounts will actually go to the root email address, mrsharrisclass@gmail.com, to which you hold the credentials.

Using this scenario, your students are safe from receiving stranger email and your school/district is safe from potentially violating CIPA requirements.

The same technique works with Animoto.com, a fantastic service every teacher should be aware of.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks,

Amy

PS: Google Apps is free to education and would provide email accounts for each of your students. If you need more information about that, please let me know.

I was looking to get them edu accounts so all their work would be private. Several sites I use let teachers create student accounts.

The +1 thing works with Prezi. I do wish, as you, that we could give kids an education account for privacy.

I just had my students sign up for a regular prezi account. Is there anyway to change their accounts to a prezi educator account. OR can we delete their regular account and have them sign up again under the educator login? THANKS!
