ARE YOU TOO BUSY TO MAKE A PREZI?

TOO BUSY TO MAKE A PREZI RIGHT NOW?

By Bridget Mann (aka PreziGirl)     www.prezigirl.com

If you teach, you have so many demands on your time that there may not always (or ever!) be time in your day to create your own prezi, right?  I understand completely.  Between lesson plans, grading papers, parent conferences, and creating assessments, it’s a wonder you have time to breathe, much less create engaging lesson presentations! And let’s not forget about all those wonderfully ‘ultra-productive’ staff development meetings you must attend as well. (Here’s a favorite quote that I once read about teacher meetings:  “Meetings…None of us is as dumb as all of us.”)  Soooo, since I know you have gobs of things to take care of in your teaching day, here is a strategy for helping you make a prezi the quick and relatively painless way….

Let’s say you have a vocabulary lesson to teach, whether your subject area is Literature, Science, Math, Social Studies, or a Foreign Language, (or just about any other subject), you almost always need to teach a vocabulary lesson. To make teaching vocabulary easier, you can simply use a template from another teacher who has shared theirs on prezi, and just plug in your words, visuals, definitions, and examples. Let me show you how, step-by-step:

HOW TO MODIFY A PREZI TO SUIT YOUR LESSON:

  1. Find a vocabulary lesson prezi using the Prezi U library (or the prezi.com website search window).  For example, here is one  that I designed and shared with other teachers--it might work well for you (I hope!)…
  2. http://prezi.com/8cgtiqexqnw8/vocab-lesson-1/?auth_key=9b40fabe2647d7d0b63e5ee7f1b83bfa15408702

    3.  Simply hit the button below the prezi that says “SHARE”

     4.   Then email a copy to yourself!

NOW......

  1. The prezi is now 'yours' to edit/change and plug in your own vocab lesson information.
  2. After you have plugged in your vocab info, you must now click on the PATH wheel of the prezi editor tool and make sure your path steps/slides are in the correct order. This is now EVEN EASIER thanks to the path thumbnails that show up in order at the bottom of the prezi screen when you have the PATH button activated. (Special THANKS to the prezi design team for that EXTREMELY helpful Path Thumbnails feature!)
  3. Click on the SHOW button at the bottom right to give your prezi a test run and make sure everything is copasetic, typo-free, in the right ‘path/show’ order, and you’re now GOOD TO GO in no time flat!

If you have any trouble with these steps, just email me (Bridget@prezigirl.com) or send me a tweet at @PreziGirl and I will be happy to walk you through the steps! Also, if you happen to run across any prezis that you think would be great to use as a template for others to modify, PLEASE take a moment to send me the link to it. I would appreciate your time immensely….

Happy Zooming Y’all!   -PreziGirl   www.prezigirl.com

PreziGirl,
I appreciate the link to your vocabulary Prezi. Perhaps I am too late, but there does not seem to be a share button at the bottom of the presentation. I was wanting to give this try with using Theological terms.
Kind regards.

Dear (Fr?) MDBaker50,

Individual users designate whether their prezis can be copied or not. You may have found one that is not authorized for copying.
